Kyrgyzstan is a huge godsend for any amateur botanic who will find out rare and endemic plants here. During several hours you will come through half desert and steppe foothills into mountain forests and open woodland, on the sub-alpine and alpine meadows and even to the kingdom of eternal snow and glaciers. Biodiversity concentration is very high in Kyrgyzstan.

There are more than 18 kinds of higher plants and 9 kinds of mushrooms per each thousand of square kilometers. This measure is ones – twice more than over the world at all. Moreover it is very high endemics concentration here. About 200 plants species are found only on the Kyrgyzstan area.

There are 22 species of wild tulips here, 8 of them are very rare and listed in the Red Book. The rivers and lakes shores are decorated with the bright berries of sea-buckthorn. More than 30 desert-candles (Eremuruses) will amazed your impression, like tenths of other beautiful flowers and plants.

Route: Tokyo – Almaty – Bishkek – Chon-Kemin – Cholpon Ata – Karakol – Karkara Valley – Almaty –Tokyo

Day 1 – Tokyo – Almaty

Arrival to Almaty by OZ at PM. Meeting with JS through guide and transfer to hotel.

O/n at hotel.

Day 2 – Almaty – Ala Archa Park – Bishkek

Breakfast. 08:00 Drive to Kazakh-Kirghiz border. Cross Kazakh-Kirgiz border (about 1 hour).

  1. 13:00 Lunch in cafe. In the afternoon:
  • Acquaintance with your expert guide and his short introduction of the wild flora in Kyrgyzstan.

After lecture transfer to Ala Archa National Park (about 1 hour)

  • Ala Archa National Park – founded in 1974 to protect the old Ala-Archa River and its environs for the sake of society and future generations. It extends 15km along the canyon with altitudes ranging from 1500m to 2240m.
  • Trekking and Flowers Watching for 1.5-2 hours at the altitude 1600 m

Transfer from Ala Archa to Bishkek (about 1 hour)

Dinner at local restaurant.

O/n at hotel.

Day 3 – Bishkek – Tokmak – Chon-Kemin gorge

. Breakfast. Drive to Tokmak (1-1.5 hours) and SS:

  • Ak-Beshim ruins – Despite its relatively modern origin, Tokmak stands in the middle of the Chui valley, which was a prize sought by many medieval conquerors. The ruins of Ak-Beshim, the capital of the Western Turkic Khaganate, are situated 8 km southwest from Tokmok. The Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai is thought to have been born in this area, as was Yusuf Has Hajib Balasaguni, author of the Kutadgu Bilig.
  • Burana Tower – it was the site of an older settlement; the tower’s minaret is one of the oldest of its kind in Central Asia. The minaret was built in the 11th century and was originally 45 m
  • Lunch in local Kyrgyz family with traditional Kyrgyz menu.

Drive to Chon-Kemin Gorge (about 2 hours)

Dinner and o/n in Guest House “Ashu”.

Day 4 – Chon-Kemin gorge – Cholpon Ata

Breakfast. Morning walking to mountains, which situated very close from you Guest House, to see the flowers.

  • Trekking and Flowers Watching for 3 hours at the altitude 1400 m
  1. Lunch in Guest House.

Transfer to Issyk-Kul Lake region, Cholpon Ata city (3 hours)

Arrival and check in hotel. SS of

  • Cholpon Ata Rock Paintings museum
  • Cruise on Issyk Kul Lake

Dinner and o/n at hotel.

Day 5 – Cholpon Ata – Chon Ak Suu – Karakol

Breakfast. Drive to Chon Ak Suu (1 hour). SS of:

  • Chon Ak Suu gorge – is also known as Grigorievka — which is the name of the village on the main road at the foot of the valley. The slopes are covered with dense fir groves and littered with waterfalls. There are glacial lakes, and spectacular views of peaks and.
  • Trekking and Flowers Watching for 2 hours at the altitude 2500 m

Drive to Karakol city (3 hours). SS of:

  • Museum of Prejevalskiy (includes Russian Adventure Museum). State Memorial Museum of the Great Russian traveler Nikolai Mikhailovich Przhevalsky located 12 km from Karakol, on the shore of Issyk-Kul lake. It includes beautiful monument, traveler’s grave, chapel and indoor museum that contains a number of documents, deeds and diplomas of Przhevalsky, collection of stuffed birds and animals and personal belongings of the scientist.
  • Dungan mosque – One of the most beautiful Karakol’s architecture. It was built by lo cal dungans, without any nails in 1911 after 4years work by Chinese architect and 30 artisans. The mosque was closed by Bolsheviks from 1933 to 1943, but since then has again been a place of worship. While it was built by Dungans it serves all Muslims of Karakol despite their ethnic background. The building impresses with an amount of perfect wood carving. You can find some items of Chinese mythology in the patterns if you stay patient.
  • Orthodox Church – A fine wooden cathedral was completed in 1895. But the Bolsheviks closed it in the 1930s, destroyed its five onion-domes and turned it into a club. Serious reconstruction only began in 1961, proceeding at a snail’s paces as available money and materials permit. Services are again being held, since its formal deconsecrating in 1991

Day 6 – Karakol – Jety-Oguz – Karkara Valley

Breakfast. Drive to Jety Oguz Gorge (1 hour):

  • Jety Oguz Gorge about 25km south west of Karakol is a lush valley with some striking red sandstone rock formation (the “Seven Bulls” from which the valley takes its name).
  • Excursion to the Valley of Flowers.
  • After light uphill trekking, visit to a Kyrgyz yurt settlement, where you will drink tea and taste kymyz, а traditional natural health drink made of horse milk.
  • Trekking and Flowers Watching for 2 hours at the altitude 2500 m
  1. Lunch in the Yurt.

Drive to Karkara Valley (4 hours).

  • Karkara valley is the most beautiful valley in the world. It is unique place with the picturesque mountains, peaks, fresh air & pure water of Karkara River. The valley of the Karkara River sweeping down northwards from the Central Tian-Shan is an age-old summer pasture for herds from both sides of what’s now the Kazakhstan-Kyrgyzstan border. The river forms the border for some 40 km before heading north to join the Kegen River, beyond which it becomes the Charyn. In its lower reaches the Karkara valley is up to 40 km wide, a broad green expanse filled with wildflowers and grazing herds in summer.

Day 7 – Karkara Valley

Day 8 – Karkara Valley – Charyn Canyon – Almaty – Tokyo

Breakfast. Drive to Charyn Canyon (3 hours)

  • Charyn Canyon is called “The little brother of the Grand Canyon”.

Charyn canyon is carved by the rapidly flowing Charyn river in to a flat and barren steppe 175 km East of Almaty. The passage of time has weathered this in to all sorts of weird, wonderful and colorful rock formation. Charyn Canyon is one of the exotic Kazakh places

  • Trekking along Canyon for 1 hour at the altitude 1500 m

Lunch picnic.

Drive to in Almaty (4 hours)

Dinner at local restaurant with Music folk show.

Transfer to airport for flight to Seoul OZ.
